Yes, The Tooth Fairy is Real, and She is Spreading a Message of Hope Worldwide.

Recently, we have been busy with social media. Through this connection we have created some great relationships in the dental community and enjoyed all the dental tweets, posts and shares. Mixed in with the juicy science and dental tech news we have been shocked to learn a number of alarming dental health statistics.
  • Worldwide, 60–90% of school children and nearly 100% of adults have dental cavities. (Source: World Health Organization Fact Sheet N318)
  • 90% of cavities in children in developing countries go untreated. (Source: The Tooth Fairy Children’s Foundation)
  • Globally, about 30% of people aged 65–74 have no natural teeth. (Source: World Health Organization Fact Sheet N318)
  • Oral disease in children and adults is higher among poor and disadvantaged population groups. Source: World Health Organization Fact Sheet N318)
  • There are 6.8 billion people on the planet. 5.1 billion of them own a cell phone, but only 4.2 billion own a toothbrush. (Source: Mobile Marketing Association Asia)
That is why we got very excited when we heard about The Tooth Fairy Children’s Foundation. The Tooth Fairy Children's Foundation is a charitable dental organization with the mission to provide every child worldwide with a toothbrush, oral hygiene education and access to dental care. The driving force behind the Foundation is a real tooth fairy, Toothena, who travels the globe with an enthusiastic message of hope.

We believe in work that The Tooth Fairy Children’s Foundation is doing, and are happy to share their message with you. For more information on the foundation please visit http://www.toothfairykids.org/. The Tooth Fairy Children's Foundation Fundraising Gala is on October 25, 2012, click here to register to the event.

How Far We Have Come.

Mr. Rohit Joshi, CEO of Brightsquid Dental.

Over my career I’ve been involved in a number of companies providing technical solutions to real world business problems.  Everything from e-learning, website application development, knowledge management to massive global e-commerce solutions.  Just over 3 years ago, I met with some incredibly smart and capable individuals that suggested dentistry needed a secure, open, web based, digital platform and they knew I would get a thrill out of bringing it to market.  I looked long and hard at the opportunity and couldn’t pass it up.  I joined in, and together with a great technical team, we were proud to be a part of Brightsquid Dental.

After 2 years of building, testing and reviewing with experts we proudly brought the product to market on January 1, 2012.  I was thrilled that we were able to provide a solution for the very real problem of sharing private patient records with all of the parties involved in dental treatment. Countless hours learning, developing, and travel ling were captured in our first release of Brightsquid Dental Link.

After 9 months in the market, we must have done something right.  We’ve got almost 1000 users in over 7 countries, over 2000 new cases per month and many interactions daily between our dedicated users.  To be honest, though, the most important thing that came from the past year was our “real world” learning about how dental professionals would use our system.  We’ve done our best to listen to requests and captured them into our first large upgrade since we launched.  Thank you to all 1000 of you who joined Brightsquid Dental Link and provided us with your honest feedback.

I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the new system and anxious to keep building on our strong base of users.  We’ve got lots more in store for Brightsquid that you’ll be seeing in the coming months.  We’ll do our best to keep you posted.  You can always find us at contact@brightsquid.com.
